Preserving Family Memories

I just got back from our family Spring Break vacation - the coolest road trip to 8 states in 7 days!  AND, I did take my own advice...which made a world of difference in the outcome!  The 14-year-old girls (my daughter and her friend) picked out the things they wanted to see, I planned out the drive and my husband did most of the driving...SUCCESS!  Everyone was happy and we made lots of memories...

So, now I have all these pictures, videos, journal entries, souvenirs…what should I do with them?

Well, I love scrapbooking to preserve our life events.  I still have a few books to finish that I am creating the “old fashioned way”…by printing out the pictures, finding the perfect scrapbook size, shape, color, and cover, and then filling it with perfectly designed scrapbook pages that include stories, names, souvenirs, and the perfectly shaped picture.  Then secure the page in a plastic page protector and voilà– one page done!

For my more recent photos, I have moved up in the world and have created a digital scrapbook online that is printed for me once I have designed it to my liking with my favorite pictures.  It saves me a lot of individual picture printing, paper cutting, etc…  I can even customize the front and back cover with pictures of my choice.  It is so much faster and I can even share it electronically – which means I have backup in case of a fire.

And now today, I have an even more amazing way to scrapbook…by using FamilyArc.  I just love it!  During our Spring Break, I was able to upload pictures each day to the secure website and free up space on my phone/camera for more plus I could add notes each day so I didn’t forget what each picture was about.  Another time-saving feature you can elect to do under your own profile is to incorporate your Facebook posts and photos into your timeline on FamilyArc.  As you create your own stories and develop sections of your profile you choose to publish them to the family on FamilyArc or keep them private. There are also options to create audio and video stories, enter your family tree, use a family Chat Room (similar to GoTo Meeting or Skype)…and the best part is – it is a private, secure, online archive vault with unlimited storage. 

Protected and can be passed on for generations!
